3M Perfect-It EX AC Rubbing Compound 1 Gallon — Fast-Cut Aluminum-Oxide Formula for P1200+ Scratch Removal

3M Perfect-It EX AC Rubbing Compound 36061 is a fast-cutting, aluminum-oxide liquid abrasive formulated to remove P1200 or finer sand scratches and leave a refined finish on modern paints and clearcoats.

Built for professional paint and collision repair shops, this 1-gallon rubbing compound combines aggressive cutting power with controlled finishability. Its formula is engineered to resist sticking, minimize dusting, and perform consistently in varying temperature and humidity conditions, helping technicians move from compounding to final polishing with less cleanup and waste.

How quickly will it remove P1200 or finer scratches?

The Perfect-It EX AC compound is designed to cut rapidly while producing an even surface ready for polishing. Its aluminum oxide abrasive works uniformly so technicians can remove P1200 and finer sanding marks without overworking the panel.

• Removes P1200-grade and finer scratches efficiently
• Delivers consistent cut across modern clearcoats
• Reduces time spent repeating passes

Will it stick or leave residue in hot or humid conditions?

This formula resists sticking and minimizes powdery residue even under challenging environmental conditions. That means fewer interruptions to scrape or wipe compound build-up, reducing buffing time and material waste.

• Specially engineered to resist panel cling
• Less powdering and fewer residue films to clean off
• More consistent handling in heat or humidity

What finishing results can technicians expect before polishing?

After compounding, panels typically display a refined, uniform finish that requires less aggressive polishing to reach final gloss. The compound holds to pads well, reducing sling and improving compound-to-pad contact for uniform abrasion.

• Refined finish ready for final polish steps
• Good adhesion to compounding pads to limit sling
• Uniform abrasion minimizes haloing or uneven spots

How should it be used for best efficiency?

Apply a small amount to a compounding pad and work with steady overlapping passes, adjusting speed and pressure for the paint type. Wipe any excess and inspect before moving to a finer polish to avoid unnecessary rework.

• Use on appropriate compounding pads with moderate speed
• Clean pad and panel between stages to prevent contamination
• Follow shop safety and handling procedures for industrial use
