Cummins Onan RV generator brush block assembly 212-1303 for HGJ series — OEM replacement, restores stable output

The Cummins/Onan 212-1303 brush block assembly is an OEM replacement brush holder designed to restore reliable electrical contact and consistent performance in compatible Onan RV generators.

This genuine Green Label Parts brush block (part number 212-1303) is made for Cummins Onan HGJ series generators and replaces worn or damaged carbon brushes and the brush holder assembly. Carbon brushes transfer current between stationary and rotating components of the generator; over time they wear from friction and exposure. Installing an authentic Cummins brush block helps maintain proper arcing, reduce intermittent power issues, and prolong the life of the alternator/rotor system compared with non-OEM substitutes.

How does this brush block assembly affect generator performance?

A secure, correctly sized brush block ensures steady electrical contact with the commutator or slip rings so the generator produces stable output under load. Worn brushes cause sparking, voltage fluctuations, and reduced efficiency, which this OEM assembly is designed to correct.

• Restores consistent current transfer for smoother voltage output
• Reduces intermittent arcing and sparking at the contact points
• Helps maintain rated power delivery under typical RV loads

What generators is the 212-1303 compatible with and how do I confirm fit?

The 212-1303 is intended for use with specific Cummins Onan HGJ series RV generators. Confirm compatibility by checking your generator’s model and cross-referencing part numbers in the owner’s manual or Cummins parts catalog. If in doubt, compare the old brush block’s shape and mounting points to ensure a match.

• Designed for HGJ-series Onan generators (verify exact model numbers)
• Compare mounting holes and brush dimensions to existing assembly
• Use Cummins parts lookup or dealer for cross-reference confirmation

How long will the replacement brush block last and how should I maintain it?

Service life varies with use, load, and operating environment; heavy-duty or dusty conditions shorten brush life. Regular visual inspections and scheduled maintenance help catch wear early and extend generator longevity.

• Inspect brushes every 200–500 operating hours or per your manual
• Look for excessive wear, chipping, or uneven contact surfaces
• Replace the assembly when brushes reach their minimum length or show damage
