DEF Ignition Coil Set for Kawasaki & John Deere Engines, 2-Pack — Direct-Fit Replacement, High-Voltage Spark

DEF ignition coil set (2-pack) replaces Kawasaki and John Deere part numbers to restore spark intensity and reliable starting on compatible small engines.

When an engine misfires, runs rough, or won't start, a worn or failed ignition coil is often the cause. This DEF replacement ignition coil set fits a wide range of Kawasaki overhead-valve engines and John Deere models, offering a direct-fit swap for many OEM numbers (including 21171-7001, 21171-7007, 21171-7006, 21171-7013, 21171-7034 and John Deere AM133525). Designed as a like-for-like replacement, these coils deliver a stronger high-voltage spark to help the engine start more easily and run more smoothly without complicated modifications.

Which engines and part numbers does this coil set fit?

The DEF coils are compatible with numerous Kawasaki engine series and select John Deere models that use the same ignition coil design. They directly replace multiple OEM reference numbers, making it simple to find a match for older equipment or mixed inventories.

• Replaces Kawasaki part numbers: 21171-7034, 21171-7026, 21171-7007, 21171-7037, 21171-7024, 21171-7022, 21171-7013, 21171-7006, 21171-7018, 21171-7003, 21171-7013, 21171-7001.
• Also replaces John Deere references: AM133525 and MIA11064.
• Fits Kawasaki engine models: FH381V, FH430V, FH480V, FH500V, FH531, FH541V, FH580V, FH601V, FH641V, FH680V, FH721V and corresponding D-series variants.

How does replacing the ignition coil improve engine performance?

A fresh ignition coil boosts the intensity and reliability of the spark delivered to the combustion chamber, which can reduce misfires and improve throttle response. While it won't change mechanical timing or fuel delivery, a properly working coil helps the ignition system achieve consistent combustion cycles for smoother operation.

• Produces higher-voltage spark for more complete combustion.
• Faster recovery and response between spark events under load.
• May restore quick starting on cold or high-hour engines.

Is installation difficult and what should I expect during replacement?

Installation is typically straightforward for anyone comfortable removing the engine cover and disconnecting a single electrical connector and mounting screws. This is designed as a direct replacement so no special tools or coil modifications are normally required.

• Remove engine shroud, unplug old coil wiring, and unbolt the coil.
• Fit DEF coil in the same orientation, secure mounting, and reconnect wires.
• Quick bench test: turn engine over to confirm spark before full reassembly.

What durability and performance features should I expect?

These coils are engineered to withstand typical lawn and garden engine environments—heat, vibration, and intermittent duty cycles. They focus on electrical performance: delivering a strong spark and reliable switching characteristics rather than cosmetic upgrades.

• Robust winding and insulation to tolerate engine heat and vibration.
• Constructed for consistent high-voltage output and response.
• Packaged as a set of two to service multiple cylinders or keep a spare on hand.

Who is this for: Owners, maintenance techs, and small-engine service shops that maintain Kawasaki and compatible John Deere engines will find this DEF ignition coil set useful. It's aimed at anyone needing an affordable, direct-fit replacement to restore starting reliability and smoother running on commercial or residential mowers, utility engines, and other OHV Kawasaki-powered equipment. Note: match your OEM part number first and follow manufacturer service procedures when replacing ignition components.
