Dorman Aluminum Oil Filter Cap — 917-016CD Direct-Fit Replacement, Durable Heat-Resistant

The Dorman 917-016CD aluminum oil filter cap is a direct-fit replacement designed to restore a secure, leak-resistant seal for vehicles that use a threaded oil filter housing cap.

If the original oil filter cap on your vehicle is cracked, stripped, or leaking, swapping it for a correctly sized replacement prevents oil loss and simplifies routine maintenance. Dorman engineered this cap to match the original equipment’s fit and function while improving resistance to under-hood heat and stress. The cap is manufactured from durable aluminum, tested for a reliable seal, and intended for quick installation without specialty tools.

How does this cap match the original equipment fit?

The 917-016CD is produced to the same dimensions and thread profile as the factory part so it mates precisely with the vehicle’s filter housing. Accurate fit reduces the risk of cross-threading, leaks, and oil pressure issues that can come from improper replacements. Dorman’s quality checks include dimensional verification and test-fitting to ensure compatibility.

• Engineered to original equipment specifications
• Correct thread pitch and sealing surface alignment
• Quality-checked for consistent fit

Will the aluminum construction resist cracking and heat better?

Aluminum offers greater rigidity and heat tolerance compared with many plastic caps that can become brittle over time. This cap is designed to withstand elevated underhood temperatures and repeated service cycles without deforming or cracking. That improved durability helps maintain a leak-free seal through varying operating conditions.

• Aluminum body resists warp and thermal stress
• Less prone to cracking from over-tightening or age
• Corrosion-resistant finish for longer service life

How easy is installation for typical DIY oil changes?

Installation is straightforward: remove the old cap, replace the filter if required, and thread the new Dorman cap into place using standard hand tools. No specialized equipment or calibration is necessary, making it suitable for DIYers and technicians alike. Because it duplicates the OEM design, alignment and torque feel are familiar during installation.

• Quick swap—no specialty tools needed
• Fits the same filter housing as the original cap
• Clear installation sequence reduces service time

How can I confirm this cap fits my vehicle?

To ensure an exact match, use your vehicle’s make, model and trim in Dorman’s garage tool or parts lookup before purchasing. That verification step identifies the correct part number and avoids ordering mismatched caps. If in doubt, compare dimensions and thread profile with the existing cap before replacement.

• Check compatibility with Dorman’s vehicle lookup tool
• Match part number and physical dimensions to current cap
• Contact support with vehicle info for confirmation
