Dorman metal heater hose connector 5/8 x 5/8 — OE FIX durable replacement for Ford/GM/Saab, pressure-tested leak-resistant

Dorman 800-403HP is a heavy-duty metal heater hose connector that replaces brittle factory plastic fittings to deliver a longer-lasting, leak-resistant HVAC hose repair.

If the original plastic heater hose connector in your vehicle has cracked, become brittle, or separated from the hose, this Dorman OE FIX metal replacement offers a sturdier alternative designed for a precise fit. Engineered to meet the dimensions of the original part while using more durable materials, it’s intended for select Ford, GM and Saab applications where heat and abrasion regularly shorten the life of plastic fittings.

Why should I choose a metal connector instead of a plastic OE replacement?

Metal resists heat cycling and abrasion better than many factory plastics, reducing the chance of cracking and hose separation. For vehicles exposed to high engine bay temperatures or repeated thermal stress, the metal connector aims to extend service life and prevent recurring leaks.

• Constructed from rugged metal for improved durability
• Less likely to become brittle from heat and age
• Built to match OEM dimensions for direct replacement

How easy is installation and will it fit my vehicle?

The connector is manufactured to the same general specifications as the original part so it installs the same way as the OEM hose connector. Confirm fitment by entering your vehicle details in the product garage tool and checking the Confirmed Fit bar; hover over any blue “i” icon for additional notes when present.

• Direct replacement for specified Ford, GM and Saab models
• Fits 5/8 x 5/8 heater hose applications
• Installation uses standard hose clamps and routine hand tools

Will this connector stop leaks and withstand pressure?

This Dorman OE FIX connector has undergone performance and pressure testing to ensure reliable sealing under typical HVAC heater hose conditions. While no part is impervious to all failure modes, the metal design reduces the common causes of failure seen in plastic connectors.

• Pressure-tested to validate sealing capability
• Engineered to resist abrasion where hoses contact the fitting
• Designed to reduce repeat failures compared with brittle plastics

What should I check before ordering to ensure correct fit?

Confirm the connector size (5/8 x 5/8) matches your vehicle’s heater hose dimensions and use the site’s vehicle lookup to verify compatibility. If the fit checker shows an information icon, review the additional notes to confirm there are no installation caveats for your model year or engine variant.

• Verify hose inner diameter: 5/8 inch each end
• Use the online garage tool and Confirmed Fit indicator
• Read fitment notes when the blue “i” icon appears

Who is this for? The Dorman 800-403HP metal heater hose connector is aimed at DIY mechanics and professional technicians who want a more durable replacement than common plastic OE parts. It’s a practical upgrade for owners of compatible Ford, GM and Saab vehicles that experience heater hose connector wear or leaks, and for anyone seeking a direct-fit, long-lasting HVAC hose repair solution without modifying the system.
