Dupli-Color Metalcast Anodized Coating spray — Silver 11 oz, translucent metallic finish, heat‑resistant

Dupli-Color Metalcast Anodized Coating in Silver is a translucent spray that produces an anodized, metallic finish in one step when applied over properly prepared chrome and polished metal surfaces.

This single-can solution creates a bright, transparent metallic color that mimics an anodized look without complex plating. Designed for both interior and exterior use, the formula bonds to chrome and other polished metals and withstands intermittent heat exposure up to 500°F. It resists common automotive chemicals, making it suitable for trim, engine covers, accessories, and decorative accents where a vivid metallic tint is desired.

How does Metalcast create an anodized appearance in one step?

Metalcast uses a translucent metallic pigment suspended in a durable spray enamel so light interacts with the underlying chrome to produce depth and sheen. Applied correctly, a single pass yields a bright, colored metallic effect that resembles anodizing without electrolytic treatment.

• Translucent silver pigments allow base metal reflection for real metallic depth
• One-step application over polished chrome—no primer required on chrome
• Dries to a smooth, even finish that refracts light for an anodized look

How durable is the finish for automotive use?

The coating is formulated to resist automotive fluids and handle intermittent heat up to 500°F, making it suitable for many exterior and engine-bay components. While robust, it’s best for decorative and trim applications rather than high-friction surfaces.

• Heat resistance suitable for decorative engine parts and trim
• Resists oils, cleaners, and common automotive fluids
• Topcoat compatibility: can be clear-coated for added protection

What surface preparation and application steps give the best result?

Preparation determines final appearance. Clean and de-grease polished metal or chrome, remove loose coatings, and lightly scuff dull nonchrome metals to promote adhesion. Apply multiple light, even coats rather than a single heavy coat to avoid runs and achieve uniform translucency.

• Clean with a solvent or degreaser and dry thoroughly
• Use light scuffing on nonchrome metal; on chrome, apply directly after cleaning
• Spray in thin, overlapping passes; allow flash time between coats

Can I use Metalcast for indoor decor or non-automotive projects?

Yes. The visual impact and chemical resistance make Metalcast suitable for interior accents, hardware, and decorative metalwork where a metallic tinted finish is wanted. Avoid use on surfaces subject to heavy abrasion or constant high heat.

• Ideal for trim, hardware, lamp bases, and accent panels
• Works on chrome, polished steel, and other bright metals
• Not recommended for bearing surfaces or continuous high-temperature parts
