Ergodyne 6823 Balaclava Face Mask — Hinged Camo Wind-Resistant, Breathable Mesh

Ergodyne's 6823 N-Ferno balaclava is a wind-resistant, hinged camouflage face mask that converts between a full-face ski mask, open-face balaclava, or neck gaiter for versatile cold-weather protection.

Designed for outdoor workers and active weekend adventurers, the Ergodyne 6823 combines stretch thermal fleece with a wind-blocking face panel and a breathable mesh mouth section. Its long length covers the head and neck, tucks easily into outer layers, and sits low-profile under helmets or hard hats. Reflective accents improve visibility in low-light conditions, while the hinged construction makes quick adjustments simple when temperatures or tasks change.

How does the hinged design change how I wear it?

The hinged cut allows three practical configurations for adapting to varying conditions and preferences. Flip the front open for away-from-face tasks, pull it up for full-face protection, or roll it down into a neck gaiter when you need mobility and ventilation.

• Open-face balaclava for unobstructed vision and communication.
• Full ski-style mask for maximum wind and cold coverage.
• Neck gaiter mode for quick cooling without removing the layer.
• Hinge keeps adjustments simple while wearing gloves or tools.

Will this keep wind and cold out while still letting me breathe?

The Ergodyne 6823 pairs wind-resistant paneling over the main facial zones with a mesh mouth section to balance protection and airflow. The wind panel blocks gusts that can chill skin, while the mesh reduces condensation and breathing resistance during physical work.

• Wind-resistant face fabric blocks cold air and reduces heat loss.
• Mesh mouth panel improves airflow and speech clarity.
• Stretch fleece seals around contours to limit drafts.
• Low-profile fit minimizes bulk under helmets and hats.

Is the fit comfortable for long shifts or active use?

Made from high-quality thermal stretch fleece, this balaclava conforms to head and neck shapes for a snug but comfortable fit during extended wear. The long length tucks into jackets to preserve warmth, and the material moves with you during climbing, cycling, or on-the-job tasks without binding.

• Stretch fleece adapts to varied head sizes and shapes.
• Long length provides neck coverage and reduces cold seepage.
• Low-profile construction fits under hard hats and helmets.
• Reflective accents add visibility without extra weight.

How does this balaclava perform for work and recreational activities?

The Ergodyne 6823 is built for both professional and leisure settings where wind, cold, or snow are concerns. It suits construction, transportation, warehouse tasks, and refrigerated work, and it works equally well for hunting, running, cycling, skating, and mountaineering.

• Durable materials stand up to repetitive on-site use.
• Flexible wear modes support different tasks and climates.
• Reflective trims increase safety in low light or traffic.
• Compatible with helmets and hard hats used on job sites.

Who is this for: The Ergodyne 6823 balaclava is intended for outdoor workers, tradespeople, and active individuals who need adaptable cold-weather coverage with wind resistance and breathability. If you require a low-profile, long-length face and neck layer that fits under protective headgear and offers quick, on-the-job adjustability, this balaclava is a practical choice.
