Fiebing's Acrylic Resolene Leather Top Coat — Neutral 2-Pack (2 x 4 oz), Flexible Water-Resistant Gloss Finish

Fiebing's Acrylic Resolene Neutral is a flexible, water-resistant acrylic top coat that gives dyed or polished leather a durable, medium-to-high gloss protective finish.

Whether you restore boots, finish a handcrafted belt, or refresh a couch, this neutral two-pack (two 4 oz bottles) provides an easy-to-apply protective layer that preserves color, enhances sheen, and resists moisture. The formula is designed to remain pliable with the leather so finished pieces keep their natural movement while getting long-lasting surface protection.

How will this top coat protect my leather pieces?

The acrylic film forms a barrier that helps repel water and surface stains while reducing abrasion to the dye or polish underneath. It doesn’t alter color in the neutral version, so it’s ideal when you want shine and protection without tinting.

• Creates a moisture-resistant surface to guard against spills and light rain
• Reduces surface scuffs and wear from everyday use
• Maintains original dye shade because the neutral formula adds no color

Is it easy to apply and will it change leather flexibility?

Yes — Resolene is applied with wool or a lightly damp sponge, rubbed in and buffed to a uniform gloss. It dries to a flexible finish so belts, footwear, and upholstery keep their suppleness without cracking.

• Simple application: clean, dry, buff, apply, remove excess, then dry and buff
• Dries clear with medium-to-high gloss depending on number of coats
• Formulated to flex with leather for everyday movement

Which leather projects are best suited for this neutral Resolene?

This neutral top coat works well on dyed, antiqued, or polished smooth leathers where you want shine and protection but no added color. It’s commonly used on boots, shoes, handbags, belts, saddlery, and furniture to extend appearance and lifespan.

• Use on footwear and leather apparel to protect high-contact areas
• Finish handcrafted leather goods like wallets, belts, and purse exteriors
• Refresh couches, chairs, and automotive leather surfaces for added sheen

How many coats should I apply and how do I get the best shine?

Apply thin, even coats and let each dry fully before buffing; multiple light layers build gloss and protection without stiffness. Buffing with clean sheep wool after drying evens the sheen and brings out a polished look.

• Start with one thin coat; add additional coats for higher gloss and durability
• Allow complete drying between coats to avoid tackiness
• Final buff with new sheep wool for a smooth, professional finish
