The Fieldpiece DRX3 is a lightweight, rugged leak detector that finds A3, A2L and A1 refrigerants plus combustible gases using a heated-diode sensor and clear audio/visual alerts.
Built for HVAC technicians who need a single tool to pick up modern low‑GWP refrigerants and common combustible gases, the DRX3 pairs portability with accuracy. It uses a field‑replaceable heated diode sensor that responds to a wide range of refrigerants and heating gases, offers selectable sensitivity settings, and communicates leak strength through multiple LED and tone patterns. The unit ships with the sensor installed and a blow‑molded case for jobsite protection.
The DRX3 relies on a heated diode sensor tuned to react to the electrical changes caused by trace gas molecules. That sensor is replaceable in the field so you can keep the tool operational without downtime. Multiple sensitivity levels and zeroing modes help you calibrate detection for tight spaces or noisy environments.
The DRX3 is designed to detect a broad set of working fluids used in HVACR and heating systems. It recognizes hydrocarbon and fluorinated refrigerants, blends, and tracer gases, as well as combustible heating fuels. This makes it useful across retrofit, service, and troubleshooting tasks.
Leak intensity is relayed through a combination of LEDs and audible tones that change with gas concentration, enabling a quick sweep and precise pinpointing. The detector’s ergonomic wand and sensitivity control let you follow small plumes without missing subtleties. Rugged construction tolerates jobsite conditions while remaining light enough for extended use.
The DRX3 is part of Fieldpiece’s Job Link System ecosystem, enabling data sharing and job documentation when paired with compatible apps. Long‑life batteries and field serviceable parts minimize downtime so the detector integrates smoothly into daily routes and preventive maintenance programs.
Who is this for: The Fieldpiece DRX3 is aimed at HVACR technicians, service contractors, and facilities teams who need a single, portable leak detector that handles modern refrigerants—including A2L and A3 classes—and ordinary combustible heating gases. It’s a practical choice for field service, retrofits, system troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance when reliable detection, fast location, and minimal tool downtime are priorities.
Q: Does the DRX3 detect A2L refrigerants?
A: Yes. The DRX3’s heated diode sensor is sensitive to A2L refrigerants as well as A3 and A1 types.
Q: Can I replace the sensor in the field?
A: Yes. The DRX3 uses a field‑replaceable heated diode sensor to minimize downtime on the job.
