LiME LiNE Sprayable Sizing Glue for Metal Leaf - Gold & Silver Adhesive, 1:1 Water Thinnable, Fast-Tack

LiME LiNE Sprayable Sizing Glue is a water-based, automotive-grade adhesive formulated for fast tack and flawless metal leaf finishes on decorative and automotive surfaces.

Designed for artists, restorers, and custom-automotive shops, this sprayable sizing reduces the long wait times of traditional oil-based adhesives and creates a smooth, mirror-ready base for gold, silver, copper, and specialty metal leaf. The formula mixes 1:1 with water for spray application through airbrushes or automotive guns and dries to a tack surface in 2–5 minutes, enabling efficient application of delicate leafing material and advanced techniques like spinning and burnishing.

How quickly does the sizing develop tack and let me lay metal leaf?

The LiME LiNE sizing reaches workable tack in about 2–5 minutes, so you can apply leaf much sooner than with conventional oil-based sizings that often require 30+ minutes. Shorter tack time speeds up multi-piece projects and reduces dust pickup on the adhesive surface.

• Typical tack time: 2–5 minutes depending on humidity and temperature
• Apply light even coats for predictable drying
• Less waiting minimizes contamination and improves workflow

Can I spray this adhesive through my airbrush or an automotive gun?

Yes — the water-based formula is specifically designed to be thin-able and sprayable. Mix at a 1:1 ratio with water, strain if needed, and set up your spray equipment for fine, even coats to avoid puddling.

• Mixing ratio: 1 part sizing to 1 part water for standard spray viscosity
• Works with airbrushes, HVLP, and conventional automotive guns
• Use multiple light passes to achieve a smooth, mirror-ready surface

What types of metal leaf and finishes are compatible with this adhesive?

LiME LiNE Sprayable Sizing Glue bonds well with all common metal leaf types, including gold, silver, copper, and specialty leaves. Its smooth film supports traditional leafing, as well as burnish and 3D spinning effects used in engine-turning and dimensional decorative work.

• Compatible with loose leaf and transfer leaf
• Supports burnishing for high-sheen finishes
• Enables dimensional techniques like spin-and-burnish engine-turning

How do I achieve a mirror-ready surface and avoid imperfections?

Apply several thin, uniform coats rather than one heavy application. Allow each coat to set to tack, then inspect under good light; if necessary, sand lightly between coats with very fine grit for the smoothest base before leafing.

• Light, even coats prevent runs and pooling
• Inspect and correct minor texture before leaf application
• Follow with gentle burnishing once leaf is applied for a reflective finish

Who is this for: LiME LiNE Sprayable Sizing Glue is intended for professional restorers, custom automotive finishers, sign makers, and advanced hobbyists who need a fast-setting, sprayable adhesive for metal leaf work. If you value shortened wait times, compatibility with spray equipment, and a smooth base for high-gloss leafing and decorative effects, this product is formulated to streamline your workflow and deliver predictable results.
