Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242 Medium Strength Thread Lock for Nuts & Bolts, 6 ml x12 — Removable, Anti-Corrosion

Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242 is a medium-strength anaerobic adhesive that locks and seals bolts, nuts, and threaded fasteners while still allowing future disassembly with hand tools.

Designed for professionals and DIYers, this formula prevents vibration-induced loosening and protects threads from corrosion and leakage. It cures quickly on metal threads and is optimized for common fastener sizes used in small engines, power equipment, and general mechanical assemblies. The removable nature means you can service or adjust components later without resorting to cutting or destructive removal methods.

How quickly does Loctite Blue 242 set and cure?

The threadlocker reaches handling strength fast and completes its full cure within a day, giving you reliable fastening without long downtime. Initial set usually happens within about 10 minutes depending on gap size and material.

• Workable set time: around 10 minutes
• Full cure: approximately 24 hours
• Cure speed depends on substrate, temperature, and thread gap

Which fasteners and surfaces is this product best suited for?

Blue 242 is formulated for medium-strength locking on common fastener sizes and is especially effective on less reactive metals like stainless steel and plated surfaces. It's ideal where periodic disassembly is anticipated, such as serviceable motors, mowers, pumps, and household equipment.

• Recommended fastener range: roughly 6–20 mm threads
• Works well on stainless steel and plated metal
• Suited to assemblies that require later removal with hand tools

Will it prevent corrosion and leaks on threaded connections?

Yes — the adhesive seals thread gaps to reduce the chance of fluid seepage and helps shield surfaces from moisture that can lead to rust. This improves long-term reliability and reduces the need for mechanical locking hardware like lock washers.

• Seals against minor leaks at threaded joints
• Helps inhibit rust and corrosion along threads
• Eliminates some uses for lock washers and specialty nuts

How do I remove fasteners treated with Loctite Blue 242?

Fasteners secured with this medium-strength threadlocker can be loosened using standard hand tools; in tougher cases, heat or a manual breaker bar helps break the bond. Avoid cutting or chiseling unless necessary, as the product is intended to allow serviceable disassembly.

• Primary removal: standard hand tools (wrench, socket, screwdriver)
• Stubborn joints: apply controlled heat to soften the adhesive
• Use appropriate safety precautions when applying heat

Who is this for? Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242 suits mechanics, maintenance technicians, small-engine owners, and hobbyists who need a dependable, medium-strength thread adhesive that protects against vibration and corrosion while still allowing future servicing. Choose this pack if you want a ready-to-use solution for common threaded connections across tools, garden equipment, and light industrial assemblies.
