Mack pinstriping brush set — 3-piece (Sizes 0, 00, 000) 100% blue squirrel, handcrafted long-point

MACK Sword 10 Series pinstriping brush set is a handcrafted trio of premium blue squirrel-hair stripers sized 0, 00 and 000 for ultra-fine, fluid lines.

This three-piece collection brings classic striping tools updated for today’s painters. Each brush is handmade from unmixed blue squirrel hair, fitted with Mack’s blue thread ferrule, and shaped to retain a long, fine point for steady paint release. The regular 2-inch hair length and carefully controlled cleaning and shaping ensure consistent performance across repeated uses, making these brushes suitable for vehicle pinstriping, sign work, and detailed decorative painting.

What makes these brushes different from standard stripers?

These brushes use 100% unmixed blue squirrel hair, offering a softer, more flexible belly than synthetic or mixed-hair stripers. The natural fiber stores paint well and releases it smoothly, so strokes remain even without frequent reloading. Hand finishing and strict shape control preserve the long-point geometry essential to crisp thin lines.

• 100% blue squirrel hair for superior paint loading and flow
• Hand-shaped tips for repeatable line quality
• Blue thread ferrule that reinforces the handle and limits slippage
• Regular 2" hair length for controlled flexibility and reach

How do I choose between the 0, 00 and 000 sizes?

The set covers a close range of fine widths so you can pick the exact line thickness without changing brush type. Size 0 produces the narrowest stroke among these three, 00 gives slightly wider coverage, and 000 handles slightly broader accents while still staying in the ultra-fine category. Using them together lets you build layered pinstripe work from the finest hairlines to narrow fills.

• 0 — narrowest line for tight detailing and hairlines
• 00 — intermediate fine stroke for outlines and small accents
• 000 — slightly broader fine strokes for fills and borders

How should I maintain these brushes to keep peak performance?

Gentle handling and proper cleaning extend the life and point of natural squirrel-hair stripers. Rinse thoroughly after each session with an appropriate solvent for the paint used, reshape the tip while damp, and store horizontally or hanging to avoid distorting the hair. Avoid soaking the ferrule area for long periods to preserve the blue thread binding and handle finish.

• Clean promptly with the correct solvent for your paint type
• Gently reshape the tip and let air-dry flat or hanging
• Store away from heat and moisture to protect the hair and ferrule
• Use light pressure in strokes to maintain the point

Can these brushes handle modern paints and clearcoats?

Natural blue squirrel hair performs well with many traditional and contemporary single-component paints and enamels that require sensitive paint release. For strong solvents or aggressive two-part systems, follow solvent-compatibility practices and clean immediately to prevent solvent damage. When in doubt, test with your specific paint system on scrap material.

• Ideal for enamels, single-component paints and lacquers
• Compatible with most sign and decorative coatings with proper cleaning
• Avoid prolonged exposure to highly aggressive solvents without immediate cleaning
