Melling's internal wet-sump oil pump for GM LS-series engines delivers higher operating pressure at stock volume, with a 7/8" bolt-on screen inlet and an optional +25 psi spring for high-performance COPO Camaro applications.
This pump is designed as a direct-fit internal wet-sump replacement for GM LS-family engines where you want stock oil capacity but improved pressure control. It combines the standard pump volume your engine expects with a higher pressure profile than Melling's M295 unit—approximately a 10 PSI increase—while accepting the factory-style 7/8" bolt-on inlet screen. For racers or street engines that need added pressure under load, an optional +25 psi spring is included for COPO Camaro setups and can be selected when higher spring rates are required.
The pump raises system pressure compared with the baseline M295 model without changing the standard oil volume. That means more consistent oil pressure at critical points in the oiling circuit, especially under high RPM or heavy load. It’s built to maintain proper flow while increasing pressure, so lubrication remains stable across operating conditions.
Yes — this Melling pump is an internal, wet-sump design made for GM LS-series blocks that use a 7/8" diameter bolt-on inlet screen. It installs in place of the factory pump with the same external mounting pattern and pickup compatibility, simplifying replacement or upgrade jobs without modifying the oil pan or pickup tube.
Consider this pump when you need higher oil pressure for stability during sustained high RPMs, towing, or spirited driving while keeping stock oil volume. It’s also a recommended choice for engines that have experienced low-pressure symptoms on the factory pump, or for builders specifying a spring change for COPO Camaro competition setups.
Who is this for? This Melling internal oil pump is aimed at GM LS-series owners and engine builders who want a reliable direct-replacement pump that raises system pressure without changing oil capacity. It's well suited to street performance builds, light-duty race engines, and any LS application where consistent, higher pressure is desired—particularly when you want to retain the factory-style 7/8" inlet screen and pickup layout. Choose the optional +25 psi spring when preparing COPO Camaro engines or other high-pressure setups that require an elevated base pressure.
Q: Does this pump use the factory 7/8" bolt-on inlet screen?
A: Yes. It accepts the standard 7/8" diameter bolt-on inlet screen for direct replacement or upgrade.
Q: Is the +25 psi spring required for normal street use?
A: No. The +25 psi spring is optional and intended for high-pressure COPO or competition setups.
