Mr Heater Portable Buddy 9,000 BTU Radiant Propane Heater (Canada) — 2-Setting, Lightweight Safety Features

The Mr Heater Portable Buddy is a compact outdoor radiant propane heater that delivers up to 9,000 BTU of warmth with built‑in safety features for camping, patios, and outdoor events.

Lightweight and easy to connect to a 1‑lb propane cylinder, the Portable Buddy gives focused heat where you need it most without a complex setup. Its two heat settings and radiant burner provide a controllable “personal fire pit” experience that’s approved for outdoor use and designed to heat roughly 225 square feet. Built‑in safety systems help reduce risk during use so you can enjoy extended outdoor time without constant supervision.

How much heat does the Portable Buddy produce and how long does a cylinder last?

The heater offers two output levels: a low setting (about 4,000 BTU/hr) and a high setting (up to 9,000 BTU/hr). Run time depends on the cylinder size and selected setting, giving flexible warmth for short or extended outings.

• High setting: up to 9,000 BTU/hr and approximately 2.4 hours on a 1‑lb propane cylinder.
• Low setting: approximately 4,000 BTU/hr and about 5.4 hours on a 1‑lb cylinder.
• Effective coverage: designed to heat up to ~225 square feet in outdoor conditions.

What safety features are built into the heater?

The Portable Buddy includes multiple automatic safety mechanisms to reduce hazards during normal outdoor use. These systems help protect against low oxygen levels, overheating, and accidental tip‑overs without replacing attentive use and correct installation.

• Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) that shuts off fuel if oxygen drops to unsafe levels.
• Thermal shut‑down system to stop operation if internal temperatures exceed safe limits.
• Tip‑over switch that extinguishes the burner if the unit is knocked over.
• Constructed with self‑extinguishing materials for added fire resistance.

How do I connect fuel and what accessories are compatible?

Out of the box the heater connects directly to a 1‑lb propane bottle for fast setup; optional accessories allow use with a standard 20‑lb tank when longer run time is desired. Only use accessories approved by Mr Heater—unauthorized attachments can be unsafe and void the warranty.

• Standard hookup: quick connection to a 1‑lb disposable propane cylinder for portability.
• Optional conversion: approved accessory kits enable connection to 20‑lb tanks for extended use.
• Warning: do not use un‑authorized accessories or modifications; they may cause injury and void warranty.

Where is this heater intended to be used and what are important usage tips?

The Portable Buddy is designed and approved for outdoor use only and works best in semi‑sheltered open spaces such as decks, campsites, or lakeside gatherings. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for ventilation, clearance, and placement to keep operation safe and effective.

• Approved for outdoor use—avoid enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces.
• Maintain recommended clearances from flammable materials and overhead obstructions.
• Set on a stable, level surface and store fuel cylinders upright and away from heat between uses.
