RUPES D-A Coarse Cutting Foam Pad 2-Pack — 6" Face, 5" Backing, Aggressive Cut for DA/Orbital Polishers

RUPES D-A Coarse High Performance Cutting Foam Pad (2-pack) is a 6" face, 5" backing open-cell foam pad engineered to remove mild to severe paint defects when used with RUPES DA-COARSE compound on random orbital and gear-driven polishers.

This two-pack of coarse cutting pads is built from RUPES proprietary open-cell foam to deliver aggressive cut without excessive heat or sling when paired with the matching compound. Designed and manufactured in Italy, each pad balances durability and responsiveness so it works effectively on larger stroke random orbital machines as well as gear-driven dual-action polishers. The pad’s 6" face diameter and 5" hook-and-loop backing make it easy to fit common backing plates while giving ample working surface for faster defect removal on door panels, hoods, and other broad painted surfaces.

How does this pad cut heavier paint defects?

The open-cell, coarse-density foam compresses and reformulates the compound on the surface to increase mechanical abrasion without glazing or melting the polish. That lets you remove heavier scratches, sanding marks, and oxidation faster than with medium or fine pads while still maintaining control on the tool.

• Open-cell foam channels heat and product away from the working face.
• Coarse density designed for aggressive compound loading and lift.
• 6" face gives broader contact area for faster coverage.
• Works on both large-stroke random orbital and gear-driven DA tools.

Will these pads fit my polisher and backing plate?

Yes — each pad features a 5" hook-and-loop backing that fits most industry-standard 5" backing plates, while the 6" face provides a larger effective polishing surface. The hook-and-loop attachment ensures secure mounting and quick pad changes during compound sessions.

• 5" hook-and-loop backing suits common 5" backing plates.
• 6" face diameter maximizes coverage without interfering with panels.
• Soft yet stable foam prevents wobble on gear-driven tools.
• Sold as a 2-pack for continuity during long jobs.

How should I use and maintain these pads for best life and performance?

Use the pad with RUPES DA-COARSE compound for the intended cutting performance; avoid excessive pressure and keep the pad moving to control heat build-up. After use, clean pads promptly to remove compound residues and allow them to dry fully before storage to preserve foam integrity.

• Apply compound to pad face or panel in small dots, start at low speed, increase as needed.
• Keep continuous motion to avoid hot spots and swirl marks.
• Clean with a pad comb and mild pad-cleaning solution; air dry fully.
• Store flat and out of direct sunlight to maintain foam resilience.

What performance benefits come from RUPES manufacturing and materials?

Each pad is developed and produced by RUPES in Italy to meet their high quality standards, combining proprietary foam chemistry and precision cut profiles. The result is consistent density, secure backing adhesion, and repeatable performance across the pack for pro and enthusiast use.

• Proprietary foam formulas optimized for DA cutting tasks.
• Manufactured and packaged in-house by RUPES in Italy.
• Quality control ensures uniformity between pads in the pack.
• Designed to pair with RUPES compounds for predictable results.

Who is this for: Detailers, auto body technicians, and serious DIYers who need a reliable coarse cutting pad for heavier paint correction jobs will benefit from this 2-pack. It’s intended for use with RUPES DA-COARSE compound and fits most 5" backing plates on random orbital and gear-driven DA polishers.
