RV Designer G21 Gas Prop Door Support 20" — 10 lb Lift, Single-Pack Replacement for RV Entry Doors

RV Designer G21 is a 20-inch gas prop door support rated at 10 pounds, designed to hold and assist RV entry doors safely and smoothly.

This single-pack replacement gas prop fits many RV entry doors and provides consistent lift and dampening for a secure open position. Choose a gas prop by matching both the extended length and the force rating to your existing unit; installing two matched props is recommended when a pair supports a single door to maintain balanced operation.

How do I know this prop fits my RV door?

Measure the fully extended length of your current gas prop and compare the force rating. The G21 offers a 20-inch extended length and 10 lb force, so it replaces units with the same specifications.

• Extended length: 20 inches (fully open measurement)
• Force: 10 pounds — matches light-to-medium weight doors
• Single prop per package — buy two if your door originally had two
• Common application: RV entry doors and similar hatch-style doors

What steps ensure a safe and effective replacement?

Turn the door into a supported position before removing the old prop and use a helper or temporary prop for safety. Replace both supports at once if two props share the load so the door stays level and wear is uniform.

• Support the door securely before detaching the old gas prop
• Compare extended length and force rating before ordering
• Swap both props if your door uses a matched pair
• Tighten fasteners and check pivot points after installation

What performance can I expect from a 10 lb gas prop?

A 10 lb rating provides modest lift suitable for lightweight to medium doors, giving smooth opening and a controlled hold. It reduces bounce and minimizes manual effort while keeping the door steady against wind or slope when parked.

• Controlled lift for stable open position
• Reduced door bounce and slow, damped closing
• Best for lighter RV entry doors or secondary hatches
• Durable construction for regular use on the road

How do I maintain or extend the life of this gas prop?

Keep mounting points clean and free of corrosion, avoid overloading the prop beyond its rating, and replace both units if uneven wear appears. Periodic inspection catches loose fittings or leaking seals early.

• Inspect ball sockets and brackets for corrosion or play
• Wipe dirt and grit from the piston rod to protect seals
• Avoid forcing the door beyond the prop’s normal travel
• Replace leaking or weakened props promptly

Who is this for: The RV Designer G21 gas prop is intended for RV owners, service technicians, and DIYers who need a straightforward replacement for a 20-inch, 10 lb door support. It’s a practical choice when restoring balanced operation to an RV entry door or updating worn hardware; buy two if your door originally used a matched pair to keep movement even and reliable.
