Voodonala Jeep Wrangler JK/JKU Tailgate Check Limiting Straps 2007-2018 — Braided Rope & Steel Plate Replacement

Voodonala tailgate check straps are a direct replacement for Jeep Wrangler JK/JKU 2007–2018 tailgate limiters, using a braided rope and reinforced steel plate to restore smooth, secure tailgate operation.

If your Wrangler’s factory tailgate check is worn, stuck, or broken, this replacement kit from Voodonala brings back reliable opening and closing without modifying the vehicle. Designed to fit JK and JKU models from 2007 to 2018, the kit includes the strap assembly, mounting hardware, and an easy-release shackle pin so you can remove the tailgate or extend its swing when needed.

How does this tailgate limiter restore normal tailgate movement?

The Voodonala limiter replaces worn original components with a braided rope strap and a high-strength steel plate that control the tailgate’s travel. The construction resists fraying and bending so the gate opens and closes smoothly rather than catching or dropping unexpectedly.

• Braided rope increases longevity compared with older fabric straps
• Steel plate provides solid anchoring and pulling strength
• Pre-drilled holes match Jeep JK/JKU mounting points for a direct fit
• Included screws simplify installation—no custom drilling required

Will I be able to remove or swing the tailgate farther when needed?

Yes — the limiter has a removable shackle pin so you can unplug the strap quickly for extended swing or full tailgate removal. This feature is handy for loading, off-road access, or when using a rear-mounted spare tire carrier.

• Quick-release pin lets you disengage the limiter in seconds
• No permanent modifications required to the tailgate or body
• Works with common tailgate removal steps used on JK/JKU models
• Re-engages easily to restore normal limiting function

How durable is the Voodonala replacement compared to original parts?

Voodonala’s design blends a corrosion-resistant steel plate and a tough braided rope meant for extended service life. That combination reduces the chance of binding, breakage, or rapid wear that often affects older OEM tailgate straps exposed to weather and repeated cycles.

• Braided rope resists abrasion and moisture better than basic webbing
• High-strength steel plate withstands repeated tension and impact
• Hardware included for a secure, vibration-resistant mount
• Designed to hold up under typical off-road and daily-use conditions

How simple is the installation process on a JK or JKU Jeep?

Installation is straightforward for anyone with basic hand tools: remove the old strap, align the replacement plate, and fasten the supplied screws. The kit is meant to be a direct swap, so it minimizes alignment headaches and reduces overall install time.

• Direct-fit design matches factory mounting locations
• Included screws avoid the need for purchasing extra fasteners
• Quick-release shackle pin installs without special tools
• Typical install time: short and suitable for DIY enthusiasts

Who is this for? The Voodonala tailgate check replacement is aimed at Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU owners (model years 2007–2018) who need a dependable, easy-to-install tailgate limiter. It’s especially useful for drivers who experience sticking or broken tailgate straps, frequently remove the tailgate, or run a spare-tire or cargo setup that requires occasional full swing. Whether you’re restoring factory function or upgrading to a longer-lasting strap, this kit provides a practical, affordable solution with hardware included and removable convenience.
