3M General Trim Adhesive 08088 Aerosol 18.1 oz — Clear-Drying High-Strength Adhesive for Upholstery & Trim

3M General Trim Adhesive 08088 is a high-strength, clear-drying aerosol glue formulated for bonding carpet, fabric and plastic to metal and other hard surfaces in industrial settings.

This aerosol adhesive from 3M delivers a professional-grade bond with a low-profile, clear finish and resistance to heat and moisture. Packaged in an 18.1 oz spray can, it sprays on evenly for rapid coverage and is designed for secure attachment of trim components, upholstery and interior panels in automotive, marine and industrial assembly environments. Note: intended for industrial or occupational use only — not for consumer sale or use.

How does this adhesive perform on hard, nonporous surfaces?

The 08088 formula is tailored to adhere to impervious substrates like metal and rigid plastics, creating a long-lasting bond without leaving an obvious residue. Its clear-drying chemistry keeps joints unobtrusive while maintaining structural grip under typical automotive and industrial conditions.

• Strong adhesion to metal, hard plastics, and coated substrates
• Dries clear for a low-profile appearance
• Good resistance to heat and water for stable bonds
• Even aerosol spray for uniform coverage and fewer voids

How do I apply 3M 08088 for best results?

Application is straightforward: clean and degrease both surfaces, spray an even coat from the recommended distance, allow tack time, and press parts together. Proper surface prep and following the specified tack time ensure maximum bond strength and reduce shifting during assembly.

• Clean surfaces thoroughly of oil, wax, and dust
• Shake can well and spray from the recommended distance for even coverage
• Let adhesive become tacky before joining parts for optimal grip
• Use adequate pressure and any required mechanical fasteners for high-stress joints

What environmental conditions and durability can I expect?

The adhesive offers solid performance in environments where moderate heat and moisture exposure occur. While not a structural epoxy, it helps maintain trim and upholstery attachment through typical temperature fluctuations and damp conditions encountered in vehicles and industrial interiors.

• Maintains adhesion under moderate heat cycles
• Resists water exposure better than many solvent-based contact sprays
• Clear finish reduces visual impact on trim edges and seams
• Designed for professional repair and manufacturing workflows

Are there safety or usage restrictions I should know?

3M General Trim Adhesive 08088 is intended for professional and industrial use only, not for consumer retail sale. Use in well-ventilated areas, follow label safety instructions, and wear appropriate protective equipment to avoid inhalation and skin contact.

• For industrial/occupational use only — not for consumer sale
• Use ventilation, eye protection and gloves during application
• Keep away from open flames and heat sources; follow can handling guidance
• Observe local regulations for solvent-based aerosol disposal
