3M Panel Bonding Adhesive 08116 Cartridge — 200 ml Black, Two-Part Epoxy with Glass Beads

3M Panel Bonding Adhesive 08116 is a professional two-part epoxy in a 200 ml cartridge that bonds and seals steel, aluminum, SMC and FRP for replacement body panels.

This cartridge-based epoxy combines a convenient delivery system with a formulated adhesive that gives technicians time to position parts or speed cure with heat. It was developed for automotive collision repair and industrial panel assembly where a consistent bond line, reliable gap-filling and long working time are required. The black 08116 formula includes glass bead technology to prevent overclamping and maintain minimum bond-line thickness, and comes with static mixing nozzles for immediate use.

How long do I have to position parts before the adhesive sets?

You get an extended handling window under normal shop conditions: about 90 minutes of working time to adjust and clamp components. Full cure is typically reached in 24 hours at ambient temperature, but heating the assembly speeds the chemical reaction and reduces total cure time.

• Handling/work time: ~90 minutes at room temperature
• Typical full cure: 24 hours ambient
• Optional heat cure: reduces overall cure time when required
• Glass beads ensure a consistent minimum bond thickness during clamping

Which materials and panel types will this epoxy bond effectively?

08116 bonds a wide range of automotive materials used in body repair, and it is recommended by many OEMs for panel replacement. It adheres to metals and common composites while providing structural sealing and gap-filling performance.

• Metals: steel and aluminum
• Composites: SMC (sheet-molded compound) and FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic)
• Applications: door skins, roof skins, quarter panels, box sides, bumper covers
• Designed for replacement body panel bonding and sealing

What features make this cartridge system practical for busy repair shops?

The 200 ml cartridge is built for professional environments: it integrates a two-part dosing system and includes static mixing nozzles to deliver a consistent mix without manual measuring. Those design choices help reduce waste, speed application and produce repeatable bond-line thickness.

• Cartridge system for accurate two-part metering
• Two static mixing nozzles included for ready application
• Glass bead technology prevents overclamping and maintains gap
• Black color hides seams and provides visual confirmation of coverage

How should surfaces be prepared and what safety practices apply?

Proper surface prep ensures predictable adhesion: clean, degrease and mechanically abrade mating surfaces as recommended for the substrate. This product is intended for industrial or occupational users; follow manufacturer safety data sheet instructions for ventilation, PPE and disposal.

• Clean surfaces of oil, dirt and corrosion before bonding
• Light abrasion or sanding improves mechanical key for metals and composites
• Use recommended personal protective equipment and adequate ventilation
• Dispose of leftover material per local hazardous-waste regulations

Who is this for: 3M Panel Bonding Adhesive 08116 is aimed at professional collision repair technicians, fleet maintenance shops and industrial fabricators who need a reliable two-part epoxy for bonding replacement body panels. It suits shops that require controlled dispensing, repeatable bond-line thickness and either a long working time or the ability to accelerate cure with heat. Not intended for consumer retail; use and handling are for trained occupational users only.
