ACDelco cabin air filter CF188 (85039741) — GM OE passenger compartment filter, multi-layer non-woven media

This ACDelco cabin air filter is a General Motors–backed replacement part designed to match the fit, materials, and performance expected for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac models that specify the CF188 (85039741) item. Built with multi-layer non-woven media and a long-media design, it targets common in-cabin pollutants while preserving airflow and HVAC efficiency. The part reflects GM engineering updates and OE validation, making it a direct-fit option for owners seeking an authentic-service replacement.

How does the CF188 filter manage dust, pollen, and road particles?

The CF188 employs layered non-woven media that separates and captures particulates across its depth rather than relying on a single surface layer. This increases dust-holding capacity and helps maintain consistent air circulation through the vehicle’s HVAC system. It’s designed to trap a range of sizes while limiting airflow restriction.

• Multi-layer construction captures particles in successive stages.
• Long media fibers increase surface area for better particle retention.
• Engineered to balance filtration efficiency with minimal airflow loss.

Will this ACDelco part fit my GM vehicle and replace the original filter?

The CF188 (85039741) is an OE-validated replacement produced to the specifications used in GM production or approved service parts. It is intended for applications that list the CF188 or 85039741 as the correct cabin air filter, offering the same form, fit, and mounting features as the original. Always verify compatibility using your vehicle’s year, make, model, and VIN when available.

• Validated by GM engineers for intended GM vehicle applications.
• Direct-fit dimensions match factory installation points.
• Check part numbers or vehicle lookup for exact fit confirmation.

What materials and design features improve performance and longevity?

The filter uses compound non-woven media with elongated fibers to increase capture area while maintaining airflow. Layers are separated within the assembly to trap a spectrum of particle sizes and reduce early clogging. The design helps preserve HVAC blower efficiency and can extend time between filter changes under normal driving conditions.

• Compound non-woven media for balanced filtration and flow.
• Separated media layers reduce premature loading in one zone.
• Constructed to meet GM durability and material standards.

How should I maintain or replace the passenger compartment filter?

Inspect the cabin filter at regular service intervals, typically during routine maintenance or when you notice reduced airflow, unusual odors, or increased dust inside the cabin. Replacement frequency depends on driving conditions—more frequent changes may be needed in dusty or urban environments. Installing the CF188 follows the vehicle manufacturer’s cabin filter access procedure for a straightforward swap.

• Inspect filter during scheduled service or when airflow reduces.
• Replace sooner in dusty, pollen-heavy, or construction-prone areas.
• Follow vehicle-specific instructions for correct installation orientation.

Who is this for? The ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF188 (85039741) is aimed at GM owners and technicians who want an authentic replacement cabin air filter that matches factory specifications. It’s suitable for drivers seeking reliable particle capture without compromising HVAC performance—especially those maintaining Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, or Cadillac vehicles that call for this part number. Choose this filter if you prefer OE-validated components backed by GM engineering updates and service part validation.
