Bonbo's Lower Bearing Carrier Puller is a heavy-duty, adjustable tool engineered to extract lower unit bearing carriers from most 115hp-and-up outboard and stern drive gearcases without damaging seals or housings.
This puller is built for marine technicians and DIY boat owners who need a reliable way to remove stubborn bearing carriers from lower units. It combines an adjustable arm system with a hardened ACME-threaded forcing head to deliver controlled, high-torque extraction. Constructed from high-strength steel with corrosion-resistant finishes, the tool is intended for repeated workshop use on popular engine makes including Yamaha, Johnson, Evinrude, Mercury and Honda (not compatible with Verado models).
The tool gives you a mechanical advantage for safe, straight-line pulling that avoids prying against seal surfaces. Its heavy-duty ACME-threaded forcing head reduces friction so you can apply steady pressure without slipping. For carriers with heavy corrosion, preheating the housing softens deposits and makes removal easier.
The Bonbo puller was designed to fit most gearcases rated 115hp and above and is compatible with many popular outboard and sterndrive manufacturers. Adjustable arms allow the tool to adapt to different carrier diameters and flange styles. Verify model compatibility before purchase if you have a Verado or other atypical lower unit, as the tool does not fit Verado units.
Manufactured from high-strength steel and finished to resist corrosion, the Bonbo puller is intended for long-term workshop use. Precision machining and hardened components reduce wear and maintain alignment during repeated extractions. The robust build helps avoid bending or thread failure even under high load.
Secure the adjustable arms to the carrier flange, center the forcing head on the shaft, then turn the ACME screw to draw the carrier out evenly. Apply steady force rather than sudden shocks, and keep the forcing head aligned to avoid off-axis loads. If the carrier is heavily corroded, warming the housing first helps release it more cleanly.
Who this tool is for: The Bonbo Lower Bearing Carrier Puller is aimed at marine mechanics, boatyard technicians and experienced DIY boat owners who service outboards and stern drives 115hp and larger. If you frequently work on Yamaha, Johnson, Evinrude, Mercury or Honda lower units and want a durable, purpose-built extractor that reduces the risk of housing or seal damage, this tool is a practical addition to your workshop. Confirm your model compatibility before use, and follow standard safety and repair procedures when heating or applying high extraction forces.
Q: Does this puller fit Verado lower units?
A: No. The Bonbo puller is not compatible with Verado models; it fits most other gearcases 115hp and above.
Q: Can I use heat if the carrier is seized?
A: Yes. Gently heating the housing before using the puller often loosens severe corrosion and eases removal.
