Cummins Onan RV Air Filter 140-2897 Green Label — Foam Pre-Cleaner, OEM-Grade Fit

Genuine Cummins Onan air filter 140-2897 is the Green Label replacement engineered with a foam pre-cleaner to protect RV generator engines by delivering dependable, OEM-grade filtration.

This Cummins Onan 140-2897 air filter is built specifically for Onan RV generator applications where reliable airflow and durable sealing matter. Unlike generic aftermarket filters that rely on thinner paper elements or brittle foam, the Green Label design uses a resilient foam pre-cleaner paired with a robust filter media to reduce wear and maintain performance under RV service conditions. It’s a drop-in solution for owners and technicians who want parts that match original equipment standards and minimize maintenance interruptions on the road.

How does the 140-2897 filter protect an Onan RV generator?

The filter captures dust and particulates before they enter the engine, preserving internal components and helping maintain consistent airflow. The foam pre-cleaner traps larger debris and prevents premature clogging of the main filter media.

• Foam pre-cleaner catches coarse contaminants, extending filter life.
• Durable seal resists brittleness for lasting protection.
• Purpose-built dimensions ensure a correct, snug fit in Onan housings.

Why choose the Green Label version over generic filters?

Green Label parts are manufactured to Cummins Onan specifications, focusing on long-term durability and consistent filtration performance. They avoid the thinner, lighter-density paper used by some competitors that can reduce effectiveness and lifespan.

• Meets original equipment standards for fit and function.
• Pre-cleaner design prevents common failure modes like brittle seals.
• Reduces the likelihood of early replacement compared to lower-grade filters.

How easy is it to install and maintain the 140-2897 filter?

Installation is straightforward for anyone familiar with Onan RV generator service panels: remove the old element, inspect the housing, and insert the new filter until it seats firmly. Routine visual checks and scheduled replacement per your generator manual keep performance optimal.

• Drop-in replacement — no modifications required.
• Inspect foam pre-cleaner for tears or heavy soiling during routine checks.
• Replace according to Onan service intervals or sooner in dusty conditions.

What operating conditions benefit most from this filter?

The 140-2897 excels in RV environments where dust, road grit, and variable humidity challenge filtration systems. Its foam pre-cleaner and robust seal construction handle the typical contaminants encountered on highways, campsites, and seasonal storage.

• Ideal for overland and coastal RV travel where airborne debris is common.
• Performs well in both dry and moderately humid climates.
• Designed for frequent start-stop cycles and variable load conditions found in RV use.
