DeVilbiss Shim Masks Pack of 3 — Stainless Steel Reusable Precision Edge for Chip & Scratch Repairs

DeVilbiss DV803654 Shim Mask is a pack of three chemically etched 304 stainless-steel masks designed to protect surrounding areas during paint repair, sanding of chips, and when correcting runs.

When you work on small paint and clear coat repairs, keeping the repair area tight and controlled matters. These reusable shim masks help technicians and DIYers limit sanding and spray exposure to the affected spot, speeding up touch-up work and preserving adjacent finishes. The DV803654 set includes three different stencil shapes to match common chip and scratch profiles for efficient, repeatable masking.

How do these masks improve control during chip and scratch repairs?

The thin, chemically etched edges of each shim mask give a precise boundary so you only remove or paint what you intend. Using a defined opening reduces over-sanding and keeps filler or touch-up paint contained, which makes blending and feathering easier afterwards.

• 304 stainless steel construction resists bending and corrosion for multiple uses
• Crisp, smooth etched edges provide accurate contact with panels
• Small openings concentrate sanding and spraying to the damaged spot

What shapes are included and why does that matter?

The kit offers a selection of stencil outlines to fit common types of imperfections — from round chips to elongated scratches and irregular dings. Choosing the closest shape lets you mask only the exposed substrate or clear coat edge, preserving surrounding paint integrity.

• Three distinct shapes to match a variety of damage profiles
• Shape choice helps minimize prep time and materials waste
• One set covers many small repair scenarios without improvisation

Can I reuse these masks and how do I care for them?

Yes — made of 304 stainless steel, these shims are durable enough for repeated service. After use, wipe clean of paint or sanding dust and store flat to maintain the precise edge that ensures reliable placement on future jobs.

• Wipe with solvent-safe cleaner to remove paint residue
• Store in a protective sleeve or toolbox drawer to avoid bending
• Avoid heavy hammering to preserve the etched edge profile

If you frequently work on small chips, clear coat runs, or tight repair areas and want a dependable, reusable masking solution, this three-piece stainless-steel set speeds up prep, reduces waste, and helps produce cleaner, more controlled repairs.
