How will this hose improve my vehicle’s defroster performance?

Replacing a cracked or collapsed defroster hose with the Dorman 96004 restores unrestricted airflow to the windshield and cabin vents. The nitrile rubber construction stays flexible under temperature changes, maintaining airflow paths that deteriorated factory hoses can no longer provide.

• 2-1/2 in. diameter fits ducts specified for many applications
• High-strength nitrile compound resists cracking from heat and oil exposure
• Expandable body helps form a tight connection to vents and housings
• Cut-to-length capability for exact fit during installation

How easy is it to install the Dorman 96004 hose?

Installation is straightforward and generally requires only basic hand tools or none at all, depending on the vehicle. The hose’s flexible, expandable design simplifies alignment and connection to blower outlets, and it can be trimmed to the precise length you need.

• No special tools necessary for typical replacements
• Expandable for adjustable fit across different outlet sizes
• Can be cut cleanly to match factory routing or custom installations

What materials and conditions is this hose suited for?

The Dorman 96004 is made from high-strength nitrile rubber, chosen for its resistance to cracking, heat and many automotive fluids. That makes it a good choice for HVAC ducts exposed to engine bay temperatures, cabin heat cycles and occasional contact with oils or greases.

• Nitrile rubber construction improves longevity versus standard plastics
• Suitable for automotive HVAC, household ducting and workshop uses
• Performs consistently through repeated temperature changes

Can I use this hose for non-automotive or custom projects?

Yes — its expandable shape and cut-to-length feature make it versatile for many DIY and workshop tasks beyond vehicles. Whether routing air for appliances, routing vacuum lines during repairs, or creating temporary ventilation, the hose adapts to different diameters and layouts.

• Expandable fit for a variety of outlet sizes and adapters
• Trim-to-fit design simplifies custom routing and mounting
• Durable compound withstands rugged workshop environments
