Dupli-Color Metalcast Anodized Coating Spray Red, 11 oz — Translucent Metallic Finish, 500°F Heat Resistant

Dupli-Color Metalcast Anodized Coating in Red is a translucent spray that produces an anodized, colored metallic finish over chrome and polished metal in a single step.

Designed for hobbyists, auto enthusiasts, and detailers, this 11 oz aerosol delivers a bright, transparent red tint that keeps the underlying reflective surface visible while adding durable color. The formula bonds to properly prepared chrome and bright metal surfaces to reproduce the look of anodizing without costly metalwork. It’s suitable for both interior and exterior parts and offers intermittent heat resistance up to 500°F and protection against common automotive chemicals.

How does this coating create an anodized appearance?

The Metalcast formula is translucent, so it lets the metal’s reflective qualities show through, producing the visual depth and shimmer of anodized finishes. Applied over clean, polished chrome or bright metal, the pigment tints rather than hides, creating layered color and metallic luster in one pass.

• Translucent pigments that preserve metal reflectivity
• One-step aerosol application for even coverage
• Produces a deep, metallic red with visible highlights

Will it withstand heat and automotive exposure?

This Dupli-Color coating is formulated for intermittent heat exposure to about 500°F, making it suitable for many trim and accessory areas near heat sources. It also resists common automotive fluids and chemicals, helping maintain appearance on vehicles and machines when used in appropriate locations.

• Intermittent heat resistance up to 500°F (260°C)
• Engineered to resist oil, grease, and common automotive chemicals
• Best for trim pieces, emblems, and decorative components—not engine internals

How should I prepare and apply it for best results?

Surface prep is critical: the product performs over properly cleaned, polished chrome or bright metal. Mask surrounding areas, shake the can thoroughly, and apply multiple light passes rather than one heavy coat to avoid runs and maintain translucency.

• Thoroughly clean and de-grease metal surfaces before spraying
• Polish chrome or bright metal to desired reflectivity first
• Apply several thin coats, allowing flash time between passes

How durable is the finish and where should it be used?

The finish provides a bright, metallic color that resists wear from light handling and exposure when applied correctly. While tough for decorative trim and accessories, it’s not a substitute for plated metal or industrial anodizing on high-friction parts.

• Ideal for emblems, trim, bezels, and accessories
• Not recommended for components that undergo heavy abrasion
• Best used in conjunction with clearcoat for added protection if desired
