The Lisle 25750 is a handheld brake pad spreader designed to compress both pistons on dual-piston calipers at the same time, simplifying pad replacement.
When servicing vehicles with dual-piston disc brakes, retracted pistons are necessary to fit new pads. The Lisle 25750 uses a plunger-and-handle mechanism that contacts the inboard pad and forces both pistons back evenly, saving time and reducing the risk of piston damage compared with improvised tools.
Its internal linkage transfers the handle squeeze into a simultaneous outward force on both pistons. As the plunger bears against the inboard pad, the opposing arm presses the outboard piston back, equalizing movement to prevent uneven retraction.
It’s engineered for most common dual-piston disc calipers found on cars and light trucks. Because it acts against the brake pads rather than the piston faces, it accommodates a variety of pad widths and piston layouts.
When used as intended, the tool reduces risk compared with improvised levers or hammers by applying controlled, even pressure. Proper operation—making sure the plunger rests on the pad backing plate—keeps force off softer piston seals.
Using the Lisle 25750 speeds pad swaps by compressing both pistons in place, eliminating multiple steps and reducing the chance of caliper or piston damage. It’s a compact, reusable alternative to makeshift tools for frequent DIYers and pros alike.
Who is this for: The Lisle 25750 is aimed at home mechanics, independent technicians, and fleet maintenance staff who regularly change brake pads on vehicles with dual-piston calipers. If you want a small, reliable hand tool that speeds up pad replacement and applies balanced pressure to both pistons, this spreader is a practical addition to your brake service toolkit.
Q: Can the Lisle 25750 be used on single-piston calipers?
A: It’s optimized for dual-piston calipers; single-piston calipers may not align with the opposing arm design.
Q: Do I need any adapters to use the tool?
A: No adapters are required—its plunger-and-arm setup works with most common dual-piston pad configurations.
