RAM MOUNTS Short Double Socket Arm for C‑Size 1.5" Balls — 1.5in C, spring-open, marine‑grade aluminum

RAM MOUNTS Short Double Socket Arm for C Size 1.5" Balls is a compact, spring-assisted articulated arm that gives precise, lockable positioning between two 1.5" (C-size) ball bases.

This short double socket arm uses RAM's spring-open socket technology to let you quickly reposition devices and then secure them in place for reliable viewing angles. Built from powder-coated marine-grade aluminum, the arm balances light weight with corrosion resistance so it performs well on boats, trucks, ATVs, and other demanding environments. Its compact length reduces leverage and wobble, which helps keep mounted electronics steady even over rough terrain.

How does the spring-open socket design make adjustments easier?

The internal spring mechanism holds each socket open so you can slip a ball into place without separate fasteners. Pivot the ball joints to the desired angle, then release the spring to clamp both balls simultaneously, creating a solid, repeatable connection.

• Single internal spring opens both sockets for fast, one-handed installation
• Pivoting ball-and-socket geometry delivers near-infinite adjustability
• Releases and locks quickly for efficient device repositioning

Will this arm withstand marine and outdoor conditions?

Yes — the arm is made from powder-coated marine-grade aluminum that resists corrosion and fading from sun and saltwater exposure. The durable finish and rugged construction are chosen to minimize maintenance and extend service life in harsh settings.

• Powder-coated aluminum finish resists rust and UV damage
• Solid construction tolerates vibration and regular handling
• Designed for repeated use in wet or salty environments

What devices and mounts pair best with this short double socket arm?

This arm connects exclusively to RAM C-size 1.5" balls, making it ideal for compact electronics and intermediate-length mounting stacks. Use it between a base plate and a device cradle or between two extension arms to fine-tune position without adding significant length.

• Works with RAM C-size ball bases and compatible cradles
• Good for GPS units, small tablets, cameras, and marine electronics
• Short length reduces leverage for less movement and better stability

How simple is installation and routine use?

Installation is straightforward: press the socket open, place the ball, then let the spring close around it. Routine repositioning is quick and requires no tools, while removal is achieved by pressing the socket open again to free the ball.

• Tool-free installation and adjustment for convenience
• Quick-release action expedites device swaps or stowage
• Minimal maintenance — wipe clean and inspect fasteners periodically

Who is this for: The RAM MOUNTS Short Double Socket Arm for C Size 1.5" Balls suits boaters, drivers, and outdoor professionals who need a compact, durable linkage between RAM C-size ball mounts. Choose this arm if you want a low-profile connector that minimizes wobble, withstands harsh environments, and lets you rapidly adjust device position without tools. It’s especially useful when space is limited or when you want a shorter stack height between a base and a cradle.
