Rustins Quick Dry Heat Resistant Paint 250ml — Matte Black, 220°C Heat Resistant, Low-VOC

Rustins Quick Dry Heat Resistant Black Paint is a water-borne, cross-linking acrylic that gives a durable matte black finish and resists high temperatures up to 220°C.

This 250ml tin is formulated for metal and wood surfaces where heat protection and a professional appearance are needed. The low-VOC, water-cleanup formula dries quickly and forms a cross-linked film designed to stand up to elevated temperatures, making it suitable for many heat-exposed items — though it is explicitly not for use on wood-burning stoves, barbeques, furnace chimneys or any surface in direct contact with open flames.

How quickly will the paint dry and be ready for use?

The quick-dry formulation significantly shortens turnaround time for small jobs. Touch-dry times are fast under normal conditions, and the cross-linking action helps the coating reach functional hardness within hours to days depending on temperature and ventilation.

• Fast touch-dry under normal temperature and airflow
• Cross-linking film develops strength over hours to days
• Clean brushes and tools with water while wet

What temperatures can this paint cope with and where should I avoid using it?

This product is rated to withstand temperatures up to 220°C, making it suitable for many heated metal and wood items that are not directly flame-exposed. Do not use on wood-burning stoves, barbeques, furnace chimneys or any application where direct flames, glowing embers, or sustained furnace temperatures occur.

• Heat resistance up to 220°C (suitable for most heated surfaces)
• Not suitable for direct-flame or ember contact surfaces
• Check manufacturer guidance for extreme or industrial heat use

Which surfaces and projects are best for this paint?

Designed for metal and wood, this acrylic coating works on interior and exterior items that need a protective, matte-black appearance and moderate heat resilience. Typical uses include exhaust parts, decorative radiators, heated trim, and metal fixtures that warm during operation, provided they do not encounter direct flames.

• Suitable for metal and wood surfaces indoors and outdoors
• Common applications: heated pipes, appliance exteriors, trims
• Produces a professional, matte black protective finish

How do I prepare surfaces and apply the paint for best results?

Good preparation ensures adhesion and longevity: remove rust, loose paint, oils and contaminants, then degrease and sand lightly where appropriate. Apply in thin, even coats and allow proper drying between coats; ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying.

• Remove rust, scale and loose finishes; sand glossy areas
• Degrease and wipe clean before painting
• Apply thin coats, allow drying between coats for an even finish

Who is this product for? Rustins Quick Dry Heat Resistant Black Paint 250ml is aimed at DIYers, tradespeople and hobbyists who need a low-VOC, quick-drying black coating that tolerates elevated temperatures on metal and wood. It’s ideal for small to medium repair or refurbishment jobs where a durable matte finish and moderate heat resistance are required — but it is not intended for open-flame or direct-ember environments. If you need higher-temperature or specialist industrial coatings, consult product datasheets or a technical supplier.
