SONAX EX 04-06 DA Polishing Compound 250 ml — One-Step Medium Cut & High-Gloss Finish, Silicone-Free

SONAX EX 04-06 is a DA-specific one-step polishing compound that removes swirls, water spots and oxidation while leaving a high-gloss, hologram-free finish.

Built for dual-action (random orbital) polishers, this water-based SONAX formula combines medium cutting power with a refined finishing polish so you can correct paint defects and reveal deep gloss in a single pass. The abrasive technology is designed to break down evenly, minimizing dust and heat while extending pad life. Free of silicones, solvents and petroleum, EX 04-06 is VOC-compliant and safe for professional environments where a clean, true correction is required.

How well does EX 04-06 remove swirls and oxidation?

EX 04-06 uses diminishing abrasives that attack moderate to heavy swirl marks and surface oxidation, then break down to produce a fine finish. You’ll see visible defect reduction after working a small panel with a DA polisher, followed by an improved clarity and depth of color.

• Medium-cut performance that addresses swirls, water spots and light oxidation.
• Abrasives decompose evenly to reduce holograms and buffing haze.
• Leaves a refined gloss without additional polishing steps.

Can I use this with my dual-action polisher and existing pads?

Yes—EX 04-06 is formulated specifically for random orbit/DA machines, producing controlled removal while limiting heat buildup. It works well with foam or microfiber pads; SONAX recommends pairing with their Orange Polishing Pad for cutting and the Gray Polishing Pad for finishing.

• Optimized for DA/random orbital polishers for stable, predictable results.
• Compatible with foam and microfiber polishing pads, including SONAX pad recommendations.
• Low dusting means quicker cleanup and longer pad life.

What makes this formula body-shop friendly and safe?

SONAX EX 04-06 is water-based and free from silicones, petroleum distillates and solvents, which reduces contamination risks and adheres to VOC rules for many professional facilities. Because it doesn’t rely on fillers or masking agents, corrections reflect true paint condition rather than temporary surface enhancement.

• Silicone-free, solvent-free formulation suitable for professional shops.
• VOC-compliant ingredients reduce regulatory concerns and odors.
• No waxes or fillers—results represent genuine paint correction.

How do I get the best finish when using EX 04-06?

Work small panels at medium speed with a quality DA polisher, applying even pressure and overlap. Start with an appropriate cutting pad for heavier defects, then switch to a finer pad if you want extra finesse; wipe down with a microfiber cloth after polishing to inspect the result.

• Apply a thin, even ribbon of polish to the pad; work in 2x2 foot panels.
• Use moderate speed and light pressure—allow the pad to do the work.
• Finish by buffing residue with a clean microfiber towel for maximum gloss clarity.

Who is this for? Detailers, body shops and passionate car owners who want a professional-quality one-step solution for paint correction will appreciate SONAX EX 04-06. It’s ideal when you need a balance of defect removal and high-gloss finish without multi-stage polishing, and for anyone who prefers a water-based, silicone-free product that’s safe for use with DA polishers and compatible with standard foam and microfiber pads.
