VViViD Clear Paint Protection Tape — 1 in x 96 in Roll, 6 mil PU Film Invisible Edge Guard

VViViD's 3M clear paint surface protection tape is a slim, virtually invisible 6 mil polyurethane film on a pressure-activated adhesive roll designed to guard paint edges and narrow surfaces from chips and scratches.

The VViViD 3M Clear Paint Surface Protection Vinyl Wrap comes as a 1 inch by 96 inch roll of transparent polyurethane with a removable adhesive backing. Engineered for discrete coverage, it preserves the original finish while absorbing impact from road debris, keys, and everyday contact. Because the film resists yellowing and uses a pressure-activated acrylic adhesive, it stays clear over time and can be removed without leaving residue, making it a practical solution for protecting vulnerable areas on cars, motorcycles, boats, and painted equipment.

Where should I apply this 1" clear protection tape on my vehicle?

Use the narrow roll to shield areas that commonly take minor damage: door edges, mirror stems, rocker panel seams, and trim joints. Its slim width lets you follow curves and narrow profiles without needing a larger film or specialist tools.

• Door jambs and leading edges of doors
• Side mirror stalks and housing borders
• Painted trim, badges, and panel seams
• Helmet edges, paddle shafts, and thin trim pieces

How durable is the 6 mil polyurethane and will it yellow over time?

The film is a 6 mil clear polyurethane designed for impact resistance and optical clarity. It incorporates a quality 3M-grade formulation that resists fading and yellowing under normal outdoor exposure, preserving clarity longer than cheaper alternatives.

• 6 mil thickness balances flexibility with protection
• UV-stable formulation minimizes discoloration
• Maintains clarity for extended outdoor use

Does the adhesive harm paint and how easy is removal?

The tape uses a pressure-activated acrylic adhesive engineered to stick firmly yet release cleanly when removed correctly. It leaves little to no residue and is suitable for most factory and aftermarket paints when removed within recommended timeframes.

• Pressure-activated acrylic adhesive adheres on contact
• Removes cleanly if peeled back slowly and evenly
• Safe for most painted surfaces when removed per guidelines

Can I install the strip myself and what tools help get a professional result?

Yes — this 1 inch roll is well suited for DIY installation and small detail work. With basic tools and a steady hand you can achieve near-invisible protection; professional installers will appreciate its ease of handling for precise applications.

• Use a squeegee or soft applicator to remove bubbles
• Heat gun on low helps conform film to tight curves
• Sharp trimming knife yields clean edges after placement

Who this is for: VViViD's 3M Clear Paint Surface Protection Tape is ideal for car owners, detailers, customizers, and riders who need narrow, precise paint protection. If you want a low-profile way to prevent chips and scratches on edges, trim, and small painted surfaces without changing appearance, this 1" x 96" clear roll provides an unobtrusive, removable barrier to help keep finishes looking newer for longer.
