ARANA 12" 40 lb Gas Struts for Truck Cap & Camper Shell — 2-Pack, 10mm Ball-Stud Clips

ARANA C16-11028 are a pair of 12-inch, 40 lb gas struts designed to replace or upgrade the lift supports on truck caps, camper shells, and light tool box lids.

These gas shocks give controlled lift and hold for a range of truck topper doors and lightweight lids. Each set includes two gas struts with 10mm ball-stud socket ends and is compatible with many common OEM numbers, so you can match fitment to your vehicle or accessory. The struts extend to about 12.2 inches and compress to roughly 7.5 inches, delivering approximately 40 pounds (178 N) of force per shock.

Will these struts fit my truck cap or camper shell?

Fit depends on the extended/compressed length and the ball-stud mount style. Compare the ARANA listed dimensions and the 10mm ball-stud socket to your existing hardware. This model references several OEM numbers to help confirm compatibility with many Leer, SnugTop, ARE, and Weather Guard applications.

• Extended length: 12.2 inches; compressed: 7.5 inches
• End fitting: 10mm ball stud socket
• OEM cross-reference: 1789sv, C1611028, 24066-001, LGP6-120-40, and others
• Common fit: camper shell windows, truck topper doors, light toolboxes

How much weight can each strut support and where should I use them?

Each ARANA strut delivers roughly 40 pounds (178 N) of lift force, making the set ideal for lids and doors that weigh within the recommended range. They work best on lighter lids such as aluminum toolboxes, fiberglass caps, small toy boxes, and camper shell windows where total lid weight is approximately 32–45 pounds.

• Single-shock force: ~40 lb (178 N)
• Recommended lid weight range: 32–45 lb
• Typical uses: truck topper door, light tool box lids, camper shell windows
• Not recommended for heavy industrial lids or unsupported loads above the range

What are the installation and durability details I should know?

Installation is straightforward if your vehicle or accessory uses 10mm ball-stud sockets. Swap out the old struts by depressing the retaining clips and popping the sockets off the studs. The struts are sealed gas units; avoid disassembly and keep mounting surfaces clean to preserve life and smooth operation.

• Mount type: 10mm ball-stud socket; clip-on removal/installation
• Sealed gas design — do not attempt to open or modify
• Replace in matched pairs for balanced lift
• Check studs and clips; replace worn hardware for best performance

What if these struts don’t match my original part or arrive damaged?
