Permatex The Right Stuff RTV Gasket Maker, 10.1 oz Black — Fast-Setting, Oil-Resistant

Permatex The Right Stuff Black RTV Gasket Maker is a one-minute, elastomeric sealant that forms durable, oil-resistant gaskets so assemblies can be reinstalled immediately.

Designed for automotive, heavy-duty and marine uses, this 10.1 oz cartridge produces a formed-in-place rubber gasket that resists oil, ATF, coolant and common shop fluids. It was developed for high flexibility and blowout resistance, tolerates wide temperatures and is used on OEM production lines. Because it cures into a flexible elastomer, it replaces pre-cut gaskets and reduces downtime by allowing fast reassembly.

How quickly does The Right Stuff set so I can finish repairs?

The Right Stuff is a fast-curing gasket maker that skins and forms a reliable seal in about one minute under typical shop conditions, allowing you to reassemble and return equipment to service right away. Final cure time depends on bead size, temperature and humidity, but the product is formulated for immediate handling and resistance to blowout.

• Initial set: approximately 1 minute for typical bead profiles.
• Handling: allows reassembly soon after bead formation.
• Cure influences: thicker beads and low humidity extend full cure time.

Where is this gasket maker best used on vehicles or equipment?

Permatex The Right Stuff is suited for applications that need a flexible, oil-resistant gasket: oil pans, valve covers, timing covers, transmission and differential pans, pumps and gearbox covers. It's specified for OEM-level use and chosen for situations with vibration and thermal expansion where pre-cut gaskets might fail.

• Recommended for oil pans, transmission pans and differential covers.
• Works on valve covers, timing covers, pumps and gearbox housings.
• Formulated to resist ATF, engine oil, coolant and common shop fluids.

What operating temperatures and chemical resistances does it handle?

This black RTV gasket maker tolerates a broad temperature range and repeated thermal cycling: continuous exposure from -75°F to 450°F and intermittent spikes to 500°F. The cured elastomer is non-corrosive, sensor-safe and resists oils, automatic transmission fluid, and coolants used in typical automotive and marine environments.

• Continuous temperature range: -75°F to 450°F (-59°C to 232°C).
• Intermittent spikes up to 500°F (260°C).
• Resistant to ATF, engine oil, coolant and common workshop fluids.

How does The Right Stuff compare to pre-cut gaskets or other RTVs?

Unlike pre-cut paper, cork or rubber gaskets, The Right Stuff forms a custom-fit, elastomeric seal that accommodates irregular surfaces and thermal movement. Its blowout resistance and elasticity reduce leak risk from vibration, and its OEM-quality formulation provides durable long-term sealability where reliability matters.

• Forms in place to match mating surfaces and imperfections.
• Elastomeric, flexible finish resists vibration-related leaks.
• Used on production lines, meeting high durability and handling standards.

Who is this for: Permatex The Right Stuff 10.1 oz Black is aimed at mechanics, fleet technicians, restoration hobbyists and marine professionals who need fast, dependable gaskets for oil-exposed assemblies. If you want to skip trimming pre-cut gaskets, minimize downtime, and use a sensor-safe, OEM-grade sealant for high-flexibility applications, this product fits those needs.
