Piaa Si‑Tech Silicone Wiper Blade 18-inch (450mm) — Frameless All‑Season, Silicone Edge for Better Beading

Piaa 97045 is an 18-inch Si‑Tech silicone flat wiper blade that replaces OEM blades to deliver streak‑free, quiet wiping and improved water beading across seasons.

This Si‑Tech silicone wiper from Piaa updates the traditional frame blade with a sleek, frameless design and a silicone‑infused rubber edge engineered for consistent contact and longevity. Built to resist heat, ozone and the buildup of ice or snow, the 450mm blade is sized to the common OEM fit and works with the vast majority of existing wiper arms. It also leaves a thin silicone coating on the windshield to encourage water to bead and run off faster, enhancing visibility without extra effort.

How does the silicone edge improve wiping compared to rubber?

The silicone‑infused rubber insert maintains flexibility across temperature extremes and continually deposits a micro silicone layer on the glass for improved hydrophobic performance. This surface finish helps water form beads and roll away rather than smear, and the material resists cracking from ozone and heat better than standard rubber compounds.

• Silicone insert leaves a lubricating, water‑repellent film on the windshield
• Better cold‑weather flexibility prevents hardening and streaking
• Higher resistance to UV and ozone extends useful life

Will this flat blade work with my existing wiper arm?

Piaa designed the Si‑Tech line to be compatible with over 98% of wiper arms on the market, using common adapter fittings for easy replacement. The frameless profile slips into place without exposed metal components that can corrode or collect ice, and straightforward adapter kits allow fitment to most hook, pin, or bayonet style arms.

• Includes adapters to match common arm types
• Frameless mounting reduces ice buildup on the blade
• Designed to meet OEM length and pressure distribution needs

How does the flat design handle snow and ice in winter conditions?

The streamlined, low‑profile shape sheds snow and resists ice accumulation better than traditional framed blades, reducing drag and maintaining consistent blade‑to‑glass contact. Without an external metal frame, there are fewer places for packed snow or frozen water to latch onto, so the blade is less likely to skip or chatter under winter loading.

• Frameless construction prevents snow from clinging to the blade
• Even pressure points across the blade ensure full glass coverage
• Silicone surface fights ice build‑up and keeps movement smooth

What kind of maintenance and lifespan can I expect?

Routine care is minimal: wipe the blade edge with a damp cloth periodically to remove grit, and inspect for tears or heavy wear. Because silicone resists environmental degradation, many drivers find longer service life than conventional rubber blades, though actual lifespan depends on climate, exposure, and usage frequency.

• Inspect monthly and clean gently with water when needed
• Replace when the blade shows persistent streaking or uneven contact
• Silicone construction commonly outlasts standard rubber in harsh conditions

Who is this for: Drivers who want a low‑profile, long‑lasting wiper that improves wet‑weather visibility and resists winter buildup will benefit from the Piaa 97045 18‑inch Si‑Tech blade. It suits owners seeking an OEM‑style replacement with modern materials—especially those in climates with frequent rain, sun exposure or freeze/thaw cycles—who want quiet wiping, reduced streaking and broad arm compatibility without altering their vehicle’s factory mounting points.
