The AP Astro PRN1 pneumatic rivet nut setter is a heavy-duty air-hydraulic tool that instantly installs and removes rivet nuts up to 3/8" (M10) using eight included mandrels for metric and SAE sizes.
Built for fast, repeatable blind nutsert work, the PRN1 combines an air-driven hydraulic pull with a trigger and free-spinning rear wheel to set or unthread rivet nuts in steel, aluminum, and stainless applications. The kit ships with M4, M5, M6, M8, M10 and 1/4", 5/16", 3/8" nosepieces so you can tackle both metric and SAE hardware without hunting for adapters. With a peak pulling force of 2,680 pounds and compact pneumatic operation, this unit speeds assembly and repair tasks in fabrication, automotive, and maintenance shops.
The PRN1 uses an air-hydraulic pulling mechanism: squeeze the trigger and the tool draws the mandrel, compressing the rivet nut body to form a secure flange against the workpiece. For larger 3/8" installations at lower shop pressures, you may need two short strokes to reach full set—otherwise a single trigger pull completes most sizes. The controlled pull and quick release reduce operator fatigue compared with manual pullers.
The kit includes eight mandrels/nosepieces covering common metric and SAE sizes so you can set M4–M10 and 1/4"–3/8" rivet nuts without additional tooling. Maximum recommended capacities are M10 (3/8") in steel and aluminum, and M6 (1/4") in stainless—suitable for many structural and trim applications. Always match mandrel size and rivet nut material for consistent swaging.
Yes—the PRN1 has a free-spinning rear wheel that lets you unthread and release installed rivet nuts quickly when the mandrel is lubricated and properly engaged. That feature helps for rework, replacement, or recovery of installed nutserts without extra disassembly tools. Use steady rear-wheel rotation and proper lubrication to avoid mandrel wear.
Who is this for: the AP Astro PRN1 suits pro fabricators, automotive technicians, maintenance crews, and serious DIYers who need a compact, fast pneumatic rivet nut setter that covers common metric and SAE sizes. It performs heavy-duty swaging in production or shop environments where repeatability and speed matter, and it’s especially helpful when working with mixed materials like steel, aluminum, and stainless fasteners.
