AP Products MEGR-253P Two-Stage Automatic Propane Changeover Regulator — Packaged, Visual Indicator

The AP Products MEGR-253P is a two-stage automatic changeover regulator that shifts LP vapor from an empty to a full cylinder without interrupting service.

This compact packaged regulator is built for continuous propane service where automatic switchover and stable outlet pressure matter. Designed to meet UL, RVIA and NFPA standards, the MEGR-253P monitors cylinder pressure and routes vapor from the reserve cylinder the moment the service cylinder is depleted. A clear visual indicator changes from green to red when the service cylinder needs replacing, helping you maintain uninterrupted appliance operation with minimal attention.

How does the MEGR-253P ensure uninterrupted propane supply?

The regulator contains an internal automatic changeover mechanism that senses loss of pressure in the service cylinder and opens the reserve cylinder outlet without manual intervention. Because it supplies regulated vapor immediately, connected appliances continue operating during the transition.

• Two-stage regulation for consistent outlet pressure under load
• Automatic valve switching when service cylinder empties
• Visible green/red indicator showing service cylinder status
• Meets UL, RVIA and NFPA requirements for safety and reliability

What connections and pressure ratings should I expect?

The MEGR-253P accepts typical low-pressure LP fittings and is rated for high inlet pressure, making it compatible with most standard cylinder supplies. Check your system fittings to ensure direct compatibility or plan for adapters if needed.

• Maximum inlet pressure: 250 PSI for broad compatibility
• Inlet connection: 1/4" female inverted flare commonly used on cylinder piping
• Outlet connection: 3/8" female NPT for secure downstream plumbing
• Two-stage design stabilizes delivery pressure to appliances

What are the construction and durability features?

The regulator is finished to resist corrosion and built for rugged service environments. Materials and coatings help the unit withstand outdoor or vehicle-mounted installations where exposure and vibration are factors.

• Exterior finish: raw zinc with powder coat for improved corrosion resistance
• Packaged regulator assembly for straightforward installation
• Compact mechanical design suited for RVs, boats, and stationary systems
• Manufactured to industry standards for dependable long-term performance

Who is this for? The AP Products MEGR-253P is aimed at RV owners, marine operators, small commercial sites, and residential setups requiring automatic LP cylinder changeover. If you need a robust, standards-compliant regulator that offers continuous vapor supply, clear service status indication, and standard inlet/outlet plumbing, this model provides a straightforward, durable solution. It’s especially useful where monitoring multiple cylinders manually is impractical and where appliances must remain powered during cylinder swaps.
