The Lisle 39190 is a hinged aluminum disconnect tool made to release 3/4" GM heater hose quick-connect fittings safely and in confined spaces.
When working on GM cooling and heater lines, factory-style quick-connect fittings can be hard to reach and tricky to separate without damaging the hose or connector. The Lisle 39190 was engineered to slip over 3/4" heater hoses and engage the connector release mechanism, letting technicians and DIYers separate lines without excessive force. Its hinged, slip-on form and durable aluminum construction make it a practical hand tool for engine bays where access is limited.
The hinged form lets the tool be opened and placed around the heater hose even when there isn’t enough room to slide a closed tool on from the end. Once positioned, the tool closes and can be guided into the connector to depress the retaining tangs and free the line. This approach reduces the need to move or remove adjacent components for access.
The Lisle 39190 is sized and shaped specifically for 3/4" heater hose quick-connects used on many GM vehicles. It is a vehicle-specific fit type designed to engage the release mechanism used on those factory connectors. Verify the connector style and hose outer diameter on your vehicle to ensure compatibility before purchase.
Aluminum delivers a balance of light weight and strength, keeping the tool durable while remaining easy to manipulate in tight spaces. It resists corrosion and stays rigid when pressed into the connector release point, so you can apply steady force without flexing. The metal also provides long-term durability compared with some plastic alternatives.
Open the hinged tool and position it around the heater hose, then close it so the tip aligns with the connector’s release tangs. Slide the tool into the connector until the retaining mechanism is depressed, then pull the hose free while holding the connector stationary. Work carefully to avoid bending the hose or forcing the fitting; if resistance persists, double-check alignment.
Who is this for: The Lisle 39190 is aimed at professional mechanics, mobile technicians, and knowledgeable DIYers who work on GM vehicles that use 3/4" heater hose quick-connects. It’s particularly useful when working in crowded engine bays where sliding tools on from the hose end isn’t possible. If you routinely service GM cooling and heater lines and prefer a compact, durable tool tailored to factory connectors, the 39190 is a practical addition to your toolkit.
Q: Is this tool compatible with non-GM heater hose fittings?
A: The 39190 is designed for GM 3/4" quick-connects; it may not fit other manufacturers or non-factory connector styles.
Q: Can the hinged tool be used with coolant still in the system?
A: You can use the tool with fluid present, but take precautions to capture spills and protect hot engine components.
