XMK RV Skylight Replacement Outer Dome 26x26 for 22x22 Openings — Smoke Gray, Impact-Resistant UV-Coated

XMK RV Skylight Replacement is a 26" x 26" outer dome designed to fit 22" x 22" RV skylight openings, offering an impact-resistant, UV-coated smoke gray cover that brightens interiors while filtering heat.

This replacement outer dome from XMK is built to refresh or replace worn RV roof skylights in campers, travel trailers, motorhomes, fifth wheels and work trucks. Made from thicker polycarbonate with UV protective coating, the smoke gray dome balances light transmission and heat reduction. The outer flange measures 26" x 26" to cover a 22" x 22" opening and includes pre-drilled mounting guidance to simplify installation.

How does this skylight fit my RV and what are the exact dimensions?

The XMK outer dome is sized to sit over standard 22" x 22" interior openings while the outer flange spans 26" x 26" for secure mounting on most RV roof cutouts. The dome depth is about 4" and provides adequate clearance for common skylight frames and interior trim.

• Outer flange: 26" x 26" for surface coverage and sealing.
• Fits interior opening: 22" x 22" (standard RV skylight size).
• Dome projection: approximately 4" depth from roof surface to outer peak.
• Pre-drilled guidance: holes reserved to mark and drill mounting points.

What materials and protections does the dome use to stand up to the elements?

The dome is molded from thicker polycarbonate engineered for outdoor exposure, delivering higher impact resistance compared with thinner plastics. A factory-applied UV protective coating helps reduce degradation from sun exposure and slows yellowing over time.

• Construction: heavy-gauge polycarbonate for strength and durability.
• Surface treatment: UV protective coating to extend lifespan.
• Temperature performance: designed for outdoor rooftop conditions.
• Impact resistance: thicker material helps resist hail and debris.

How will the smoke gray color affect interior light and temperature?

Smoke gray filters direct sunlight to reduce glare and limit some solar heat gain while still admitting natural daylight into the RV cabin. This makes it useful in warmer climates or in areas of the vehicle that get strong sun exposure, helping maintain a more comfortable ambient light level without fully darkening the space.

• Tint: smoke gray reduces glare and softens bright sunlight.
• Light balance: allows daytime visibility while filtering harsh rays.
• Options: other available colors include clear, white, black, dark blue and tawny.
• Energy: lets natural light in without fully surrendering solar control.

Is installation straightforward and what tools or sealants are recommended?

The dome arrives with pre-drilled guidance and reserved spacing so users can mark and drill final mounting holes as needed. It is lighter than glass, which simplifies handling, but correct sealing is important to prevent leaks; using a compatible skylight sealant during installation is recommended for best results.

• Mounting: align 26" flange over 22" opening and mark holes.
• Drilling: pre-marked areas reduce measurement errors.
• Sealing: use a waterproof RV-grade skylight sealant for leak prevention.
• Handling: lighter polycarbonate reduces strain during fitting.

Who is this for: The XMK smoke gray 26" x 26" outer dome is intended for RV owners, campers and fleet operators who need a durable replacement for a 22" x 22" skylight opening. It suits anyone looking to restore a roof vent or skylight while improving impact resistance, managing sunlight and maintaining a clean exterior flange area. Choose this option if you want a balance of daylight, reduced glare and a tougher polycarbonate surface for long-term outdoor exposure.
